Shall we gather at the river tells the story of Enoch O'Reilly, a rejected seminarian who recasts himself as a radiovangelist in the small Irish town of Murn, channelling the spirit of rock'n'roll for his own ends. When a great flood afflicts the town, a rash of mysterious suicides follow and Enoch attempts to find answers in the mysteries and myths that abound.
